Privacy policy

Who we are

This website belongs to Ramsauer Renovations Inc., a renovation contractor based in Oshawa, Ontario. We are responsible for the personal information we collect. Questions go to our privacy officer at info@ramsauerreno.ca or 647-967-2072.

What we collect

• What you send us. When you fill in a quote or contact form, we receive what you enter, such as your name, phone number, email, address and project details. We use it to reply, plan and price your project, and keep records of the work. A copy is saved in our own records system so our team can follow up quickly.
• Anonymous visit statistics, for every visit. We note which pages are opened, where people click, how far they scroll, how long they spend on each section, which form fields they use and options they pick from lists, like the type of project (never what they type), the type of device and browser, and which website sent them here. This isn’t linked to a name, isn’t kept in your browser after you close the tab, and doesn’t use cookies. We use it to see what is useful and what is confusing, and to improve the site.
• Cookies and session recording, only if you click “Accept”. If you accept, we also record how your mouse moves and how you scroll, so we can replay the visit and see where people get stuck, and we keep a random ID in your browser so we can tell when you come back. Google Analytics also uses cookies to count visits. If you click “Decline”, none of this happens and Google Analytics’ cookies are switched off for you.

What we never do

• We never record what you type into our forms as part of visit recording. It notes only which field you were in and for how long.
• We don’t store your IP address or build a profile to identify you. If you accept cookies, your visits are tied to a random ID kept in your browser, never to your name.
• We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising by other companies.

Where it is kept

Visit statistics, recordings and our copy of your requests are stored with our database provider, Supabase, on servers in Canada (Montréal). Like any web service, their systems briefly log basic technical details of each connection, such as IP address, for security, and delete them automatically; we don’t copy those into our records. Form messages are handled by our web host, Netlify, and Google Analytics data is processed by Google. Both may store information in the United States, where it is subject to U.S. law.

How long we keep it

• Mouse movement and scrolling recordings: 90 days.
• Other visit records (pages, clicks, time on page): 13 months, then deleted automatically.
• Form messages and project records: as long as needed to serve you and meet our legal and tax obligations.

Your choices

• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t track your visits at all.
• You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser at any time.
• You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing info@ramsauerreno.ca. We will reply within 30 days.

Safeguards

Visit data and requests can only be read by people we authorize, who sign in to a protected dashboard. The website itself can add information but cannot read any of it back.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information, contact us first and we will work to fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
