Permits and local rules
Building permits in Courtice and Clarington.
Clarington handles building permits for Courtice. For decks, the Municipality requires a permit for any deck attached to the house that is more than 0.6 m (2 ft) above grade, and for any deck over 10 m² (108 sq ft). Detached decks under 10 m² don’t need one, but every deck must still meet the zoning setbacks.
Deck permits are applied for through the Service Clarington portal, with three inspections required. Clarington lists the deck permit fee as $160.86 per deck.
Clarington has also expanded permissions for additional dwelling units, also called secondary suites. We check what your lot allows before you commit.

The Ramsauer team assisted with the design, gut, expansion and rebuild of our primary washroom, modifying it to a four piece with a custom shower.
